  • The Good The Bad And The Ugly:Grateful?

    Date: 2011.11.14 | Category: gratitude | Response: 4

This entry is part 2 of 4 in the series Why I'm Grateful

The Good The Bad And The Ugly

    A message from Tithetaneous

    by Rev. Sandra Scott Wright

    pouty morningWhat?

I heard somebody say be thankful for all things.I began to really think about this…It is good to be grateful for the good, but what about the bad and the ugly?Lets see what would be bad? Oh I got it, you are scheduled to speak at a real important conference. You are so grateful that they would even want you to speak. Now the bad…you put your best outfit on, and head towards the conference center. You are ready, speech memorized, hair perfect everything. You step up on the platform and then it happens…

Your stomach growls, the volcano erupt within your stomach…Oh no! Diarrhea! You ask the moderator to stall for a bit and you make it to the bathroom. Ten minutes later you arrive to the platform in perfect form ready to speak, no one the wiser…

Now for the ugly: remember when you were single, or perhaps you still are?You are at a social function and there seems to be this person who just wants to stick with you like glue on paper. The problem?He/she has hair that sticks up in the air like a porky pine. They are missing about 15 of the twenty teeth they may have, you didn’t want to stare so you really couldn’t count. The outfit, you’ve seen much better on shower curtains. Everybody associates you with this person. They look at you and then back to your company…

Dreaming of the seaThe uglies again…you’ve been on a wonderful vacation and this is your last day.You feel week inside every time you think about tomorrow…back to work. You get a phone call from staff about the craziness happening on the job. They just fired the boss of twenty years; the company is restructuring…

All the above seems comical but very likely. The Good, the bad and the ugly:Why be grateful? We can all manufacture reasons why we could be grateful for all of the above. But we are still missing it.Perhaps even as I state it I am too. The point is all the above you would not be aware of if you weren’t alive. Not what happened, but how you reacted to these events will and could potentially change the course of destiny in your life.Your ten-minute delay, your association with an unattractive person: going back to work at a job that you may or may not like. How has your reaction to all these and the circumstances you will face tomorrow effect destiny? How will your children and children’s children be affected by what you do or don’t do today? How has your reaction affected the other person/persons in the ripple effect of events? It’s time to be grateful for the good the bad and the ugly wouldn’t you think?

“ I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalms 34: 6-8

Dusty Feet Form Cloudsv.2 18/366: Calluses

Feet tell a lot about a person.Imagine if whenever you looked at someone all you were able to see was his or her feet. Those ‘tootsies’ tell a lot about a person. Are the toes perfectly manicured; perhaps the person is very meticulous, or maybe even a bit proud.

Crusty feet with corns; maybe it is a hard working person, with very little time for themselves.Yes feet tell a lot about us. Got bunions? My I wonder if they came from Grandma or Grandpa?Got calluses, do you stand on your feet a lot? Then how about ‘sneaker feet’, are you an athlete or just walk a lot?Don’t forget about those dreaded ‘Stinky feet’.Many have learned the true lesson of unconditional love, lying next to their love one with those blessed ‘Stinky feet’.

Yes, feet tell a lot about a person. I wonder what kind of feet God has?

“… The LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” Nahum 1:3

Mr. Ham Bone & Mrs. Lima Bean Bone had a conversation…Mr. Ham Bone being a bit tired was looking for a restaurant, he rode around and around looking for it, and finally found it. He then said, “It is weird where they put the entrances of these restaurants…” Mrs. Lima Bean Bone, (not being one to criticize), replied and said, “Yes honey especially as this entrance is in the front door!”

    Scripture:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart

    and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him,
